Patrick Topitschnig is an Austrian filmmaker, photographer and audio artist whose multifaceted practice spans experimental video, theatre collaboration, site‑specific installation, sound design, music, trailer editing and performance. He earned a Master’s degree in Intermedia/Media Art from the University of Applied Arts Vienna, complemented by studies in narrative/documentary film (UdK Berlin) and video theory (Academy of Fine Arts Vienna) as well as a BA in Commercial IT.

Topitschnig’s experimental work consistently investigates physicality, perception, duration, fragmentation, repetition and the passage of time across visual and acoustic media. A dark‑humor sensibility pervades his pieces, evoking unsettling audiovisual tension and reflecting on cinematic construction.

His award-winning works include “Nouvelle Couleur S1” (Fred Adlmüller Grant), “Zerschneidung des Ganzen” (“Concision of the Whole”, Ursula Blickle Grant) and “rumor macchina” (Honorable Mention at the International Biennial of Humour & Satire), alongside the STARTstipendium for Video and Media Art an the Austrian State Fellowship for Media Art. He has exhibited and performed internationally across Europe, the USA, China and Australia.

Topitschnig’s commissioned portfolio includes over 100 theatre trailers, numerous promos for public television and original soundtracks for short films.
