Red Signal in Green Silence

Performance

von Mehrta Shirzadian

Red Signal in Green Silence draws from funeral rituals in which the body is washed and prepared with care after death, and from the belief that the soul is gently taken at the moment of passing. In the performance, these sacred gestures are transformed into a modern act: shaving the body and reimagining the “taking of the soul” as a contemporary kiss, an intimate exchange that can also carry vulnerability or risk.
