Lars* identifies as genderqueer and prefers no pronouns or the English singular they/them.
In 2007, Lars* founded the punk label RilRec, wrote for a music magazine for many years, and has long been engaged with photography and moving images.
During the G20 summit in Hamburg in 2017, Lars* produced the documentary film Festival of Democracy, which followed the protests and exposed massive violations of fundamental rights by the police.
A central focus of Lars’s projects and works is the intersection of body politics and media discourse – how they relate to one another, influence each other, or become inseparable: the body as medium and media as extensions that constitute and locate the body within specific concepts of space and time. Often central is also the inherent logic of media apparatuses. The works are generally political and engage with contemporary discourse. Post-pornography meets posthumanism. Lars lives and works in Vienna and has been featured internationally in numerous exhibitions and festivals for many years.
