Nefeli Stamatogiannopoulou(Nefeli Stam.) is a Greek composer, performance artist, improviser, and researcher based in Athens. Her work moves fluidly between music composition, live performance, and artistic research, with a strong emphasis on the relationship between sound, movement, and dramaturgy. She has composed more than fifty works for dance, theatre, film, and interdisciplinary performance, often directing and performing in her own productions.
A multi-instrumentalist, she performs on double bass, electric bass, piano, and electronics, while also exploring extended vocal techniques. Improvisation plays a central role in her artistic language, allowing her to merge structured composition with spontaneous creation. In recent years, she has focused on developing a personal notation and compositional system that integrates physical gesture and spatial awareness into musical practice.
Nefeli Stam. studied classical and contemporary composition and completed graduate studies in Composition for Cinema, Theatre and Performing Arts at the Ionian University. She is also a PhD candidate in the Department of Music Studies at the same institution, where her research examines interdisciplinary performance and embodied sound practices.
She is the founder of the artistic research group Ov Off, the music group Spooky Redrum, and Ov Off Studio, a creative space dedicated to experimentation and collaboration. Her work has been presented internationally in concerts, festivals, and theatre venues across Europe.
Alongside her artistic practice, she teaches workshops and seminars on composition, improvisation, and performative sound, contributing actively to contemporary experimental music and performance art scenes.
