Monica Dudárov Hunken

Monica Hunken is a theater-maker and activist based in Brooklyn, NY. Her work, including five solo shows, has been produced in New York City and across the world including the Sibiu Int. Theater Festival in Romania, Glastonbury Festival in England, Colchester Arts Centre, Beyond the Border International Storytelling Festival in Wales, De Parade Festival in the Netherlands, Porsgrunn International Theater Festival in Norway, The International Storyteller’s Festival at Grodza Gate in Lublin, among many others. Monica was a CulturePush Fellow with her Dragcycle project in NYC 2024 and winner of the Patrolio Award for her work responding to social injustice through art in Spain.
She was an artist in residence at SPACE on Ryder Farm, Fish Factory in Iceland, Arts Letters and Numbers in NY, A Position in Vancouver, Canada. She is a co-founder of Al Límite Collective, an award-winning theater company that sprung out of The Living Theatre and devises original works through social engagement with community. Hunken earned a B.F.A. in Drama from ETW and an M.A. in Educational Theatre at NYU and has since taught in Thailand, Greece, India, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Austria, Australia, trained in Amsterdam, Poland and Ireland.
