White-(F)lecking Map

Performative action

Away from the tourist destinations of the Black Forest lie villages and small towns that appear insignificant and unknown. Yet they, too, hold things worth discovering. In order to make these places visible, I want to turn them into white spots on the map. The meticulously cartographed is erased, transformed into the unexplored, and thus meant to invite rediscovery. The work aims to make clear that it is often our immediate surroundings that remain unfamiliar and seem unworthy of attention. The white spots on the map are intended to spark curiosity and prompt the question of whether this appearance is deceptive.
